Sounding Decolonial Futures: Decentering Ethnomusicology's Colonialist Legacies

Zeisberg 12 “Song from Brit. Columbia”

Zeisberg titles this song "Song from British Columbia." In the Fletcher, it is simply titled as "Song" and subtitled as British Columbia, with a specific cultural affiliation of Kwakiutl. Zeisberg, however, does not include that information. In the Fletcher, the original arrangement and harmonization is attributed to Fillmore. Zeisberg has kept Fillmore's time signature and basic harmonic framework, but added figuration.

The transcription does not come from a stand-alone chapter, part of a story and song package, but rather illustrates a point in the chapter on the Relation of Story and Song
